Mirza Faridul Hasan Beg was a philanthropist, educationist and a successful banker, and above all a fine human being. He was an institution in himself.

He realized that our present educational system was accessible and open to the rich and those from the creamy layer, while the underprivileged are priced out of the institutions for want of money.

THe felt strongly that the Muslim community would be throwing away great opportunities, casting adrift its future, if it does not acquire a strong knowledge and economic base powered by Information Technology, innovation and modern education.

Consequently, Beg Sahib established educational institutions in his native district Azamgarh for spreading education among children who were deprived of modern

education due to poverty, exploitation and religious extremism.

He tried to engender a social conscience for the upliftment of the weaker sections of the society. He, therefore, conceived the concept of micro-financing and established Jamia Cooperative Bank Limited. This venture came as a great beacon of light and hope to the downtrodden segment of society which had been seared in the flames of withering injustice.

He had a dream that one day this section of the society, sweltering in the heat of poverty and injustice, will be transformed into an oasis of peace, prosperity and justice.

The path he chose was full of hazards but was the most consistent with the character and courage of his community and his commitments around it. Thus, whatever he has left with us, is what he said, and what he did, and what he stood for.
